for the top photo, pull the pin/slide down,
in second photo pull towards left,
are these for the door wiring?

Re: Loss of pressure?
I ALWAYS turn key to ign position, wait until the fuel pump noise stops then turn key to starter point. This ensures that fuel line is pressurised and injectors get a decent shot instead of priming the system AND turning engine over, if not takes a wee bit longer to fire up. this is same with TWO pu...

you can easily tell if anti-freeze as it tastes 'sweet' if dabble fingers in it
note that the drains from the well that the wiper motor sits in often fill with leaves as they have a wee non-return flap on them.
i cut these off and since then no problems

Re: Intermittent info centre
just do a quick check that the VERY bright bulb is present :-) if bulb blown then the information centre is THERE but NOT visible, guess how I know? I fitted the WRONG wattage and is VERY dim (no use in summer), the correct bulb is a halogen? but does fry the PCB and so maybe that is cause of proble...

canna do a photo , but just had ours done (again), i reckon the corrosion broke it :-( so when glass was out this time i cleaned it with an angle grinder and then tidied up the edge. filled with chopped strand and painted. anyway to your question:- new seal fits nice and flush BUT I have run a strip...

Re: Some kind if confounded trickery...
well try a 2.0 if you want even more oomph low down and then you can still get the power later on, although maybe a wee bit less free revving with the longer stroke, but I reckon more than makes up for itcranna21 wrote:Ah! I knew it was torque but thought it was an ungodly amount I was getting haha

Re: 1.7 N/A DECAT
can't comment on new MoT regs but if the vehicle is PRE CAT reqd and you carefully remove the Cat badge you should be OK? unless the new gucchi sysytem can check chassis numbers against build spec? the cat on mine was jiggered due to engine being sh***d and when I put the cat on (after a failed MoT)...

should have read properly, misread it as timing belt
any way the hint is correct in case the timing belt is also to be changed, which is always worth doing if NO record of when it was done!

if you mean the lock for crankshaft? I used a long plain bolt in through the side of block making sure that it picks up the correct hole not the balance hole. slacken off the crankshaft nut BEFORE you insert the rod! it might be tight , in fact it WILL be tight, I had to use a big extra long lever o...

Knocking 'might' also be down to the void bush at front end of trailing arm being rather more 'void' than 'bush' :D easy fix , as long as you can get the bolt out  I think I stuffed a bit of rubber into one void before I sold it to stop the rattling (mind you I only got £100), so didn't feel t...

That will be ours, Mrs was up seeing her folks in FORRES.
We live in sunny Aberdeen. Car is used as a daily driver and went through another MoT with only ONE advisory, not bad for 20 year old
(C30 front bearing failed at 36k ! )

Re: Testing Electronic Speedo
by dancing around, do you mean it registers a steady figure when drive is 'rotating'
what are you using to give a steady speed?
I think the WHOLE speedo would work/fail, but i guess the odometer could fail separately. it looks a nightmare to swap the odometers from one to other!

Re: Oil Temp Sensor
I'd put up a photo if I could just attach it but I don't do flkr or anything techy!!! the oil cooler is out of the old 1700 'ES' that we had before the 2litre one , so no, not standard! The fact that it comes up 'CHECK' is because the two are probably in the same unit? (and you don't have it?...

steve I had issues with th speedo/info centre but it was the connections etc at the inst panel that were the fault, see another thread, http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=33760&p=203860#p203860 where it would happily work when NOT in correct location but would when dangling f...

Re: Oil Temp Sensor
sorry, by 'auto' dipstick I meant 'electronic level measurement' :-) alongside oil filter/cooler (if fitted) the info centre automatically checks the oil level when the ignition is first turned on. if low (not sure how low) it comes up with CHECK as it scans through the sensors in anti clockwise dir...

Jim
was the offer of connectors directed at me?
I meant a 'loose' single connector out the front of the dash-board that I could plug into the mpg trip side to confirm/deny that I'd found the fault. I am happy enough to accept that the mpg is OK anyway!! :-0

Re: Oil Temp Sensor
I assume alongside/combined with the 'auto' dipstick, between the dip stick and alternator mount I have a connector/gubbins disappearing into the sump.
water temp sits about 87-89, oil on along run high 90s.
or engine says'cold' intermittent connection, no surprise there then

Re: Info Centre Multi Plug Pins
the HBOL does have various circuit diagrams, some are sort of true some are not, it does seem to vary between models/year etc for me the speedo would ONLY work when powered up hanging in the front footwell. everytime it was fitted back into place it would die, it might have been the connection to th...
