Nobody?

Have you found a cure for rust since I left?

Wheel arch repair panels - sold

Hi all, I still have these wheel arch repair panels in my cupboard for no apparent reason and would like to shift them. I bought them from GlasgowJim on this forum some time ago and never got around to fitting them. I no longer own a 480 so these are not needed. Who would like to weld these in place...

For Sale: Volvo 480 Turbo, White, '92

Hi all, So i'm selling my 480 Turbo. Reason: Just don't need one right now. I don't need a car for work (train commuter and cyclist) and will probably buy some crappy runaround instead. This one has been well looked after. I have only owned it for just over a year but have fixed any niggles with it....

Re: Steering column play

Thanks both. I thought it may have been mentioned before that it's a case of swapping the whole column (or easier at least). Mine is non airbag - That's a Volvo / Momo steering wheel by the way  - So thankfully, no messing around with explosives in my face. It was like this when I received the...

Steering column play

Hi all, I have a slight knocking in the steering column. I believe it is a UJ on the column but have not had it to bits fully to check. I'm pretty sure it is inside the car and not on the steering rack or trackrods etc. Is there a common part that wears out between the steering wheel and the bulkhea...

Re: Wanted: Funny washers for drivers seat

Thought you might know Jim! But do you have any, that is the question?!

I have used washers but it kind of locks the seat in one position. If it is not done up so tight then it rocks around.

Must dig out the tardis CD...

Thanks,

Wanted: Funny washers for drivers seat

Hi, Not sure if anyone will know what i'm on about, but if you have ever removed the drivers seat (maybe passenger seat too) from the rail assembly, there are a bunch of oval washers. These washers allow the screws to attach the seat to the rails tightly whilst still allowing the seat height to be a...

Re: A very busy 480 bank holiday arch restoration

Nice work and nice hangar!

I did something similar last year (but in a barn and without cool aeroplanes) and am annoyed to find rust creeping through already :( I probably didn't do a good enough job. Rust is orrible.

Looks nice but takes a bit of getting used to!

I too am now using the northernscum URL due to auto login not working on dragons.org. Also due to me being lazy.

Looks nice (white is the best colour obviously) although those wheels are the wrong ones for that year.

Re: Starter Motor

I thought they were interchangable and earlier ones were replaced with valeo but not entirely sure... All of the gearboxes are pretty much the same?? Maybe the flywheel would be different? I think i've fitted one of the big motors to a turbo that had a dead valeo motor as a temporary measure but rea...

Re: why wont you idle you b*****d!

I have done this on my old turbo. Just need to find some suitable sized bits of hose and clips to fit it all together. I would do the same again when the valve on my current car dies. The turbo re-circ valves work in the same way as the vacuum operated valve for the idle valve. I had also removed th...

I've been meaning to try the diy mod for myself some time. It seems odd that the software would detect a modification to the hardware and require resetting. I think I will try it and see for myself. Other than the old cr of the year post, I don't think too many people have tried this. Apparantly thi...

I have found that there are different types of T50(i think). Both of mine were from halfords. Some have a chamfered / rounded top to them which really makes the difference between struggling and rounding the heads, or them coming out easily. You will probably need a breaker bar. Make sure you get a ...

Hi, the price is £80 as above. I can get photos if needed... I can try and do this later on. They are black primered on the outside with a rubber strip on the edge that would be welded to the body so that there is a clean edge if you wanted to use them without cutting any away. The shape is the l...
