Re: Trying to restore red 91 turbo...
No rush on the tardis-shed to be honest GlasgowJim. If you check the photos l got some larger issues. New bits don't mean a thing when half the car is rotted :( l will have to speak to the restorer and see if the job is going to be even half way reasonable. If l can't wangle a deal then the car is p...

Re: It lives...sort of...
Well l am sort of stuck at locating the relevant parts. I expect the restorer would work better if l could provide the necessary parts in a timely fashion. It appears that l can't get new parts and so maybe a donor car? Tricky one as a car that has good quarter panels is not likely to be in bad shap...

Re: Trying to restore red 91 turbo...
This is what it used to look like. http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3586&start=40 Its the red one, although the camera seems to have turned it a bit pink. Nigh immaculate. Actually makes me sad now l look at them. :( l'll take some photo's of its current state when l see it ...

Hi, Been a long time, l come before you guilty of letting my 91 Volvo480 Turbo gently rot on my drive for last 7 years. If anyone remembers it was the red modified one with the split rims, red part leather seats/trim, lowered suspension and giant front discs and of course DBS's front and rear spoile...

Trying to restore red 91 turbo...
From post in general :) Needed: Passenger side (LHS) door window motor. Possibly motor for LHS pop up light. Rear light cluster covers both sides, middle looks ok for some reason. Maybe l'll just get them lacquered? The petrol/boot release mechanism and the housing as l'll likely break mine trying t...

If someone has a 2lt turbo then they have spent lots of money and presumably are already running an aftermarket ECU system, so the stock loom would be all but ripped out. Using said engine as test to create the chip would also have some risks associated wouldn't it? If you are just looking for a tim...

Fuel Pump
Given there's much talk of ECU and larger injectors etc has anyone considered the fuel pump limitations yet? I beleive dbs Dave said it maxed out at about 180 bhp. Now l know that an 89 480 turbo ran 220 bhp with what appears to be the stock pump..but tbh l dont want to take the chance. Does anyone ...

This is true, thought about boring out to reach 2ltr but then there may have been cooling issues with the thinner walls. Its the crank area that appears to be a problem not the height of the block as far as fouling goes, customs would allow the ring land to be put much higher up and the rod to be se...

2ltr turbo not so easy..
Well after a rather extended break from staring at books written by Smokey Joe or some such moustachio'd NASCAR loony, l have finally pushed the last part of the project to conclusion which was effectively a no go. Attempting to build a 2ltr with a 2ltr crank, 1.7t bottom end and 1.7 turbo rods caus...

Not much gain from port matching? Suppose it depends on how much they "don't match" :) I looked at a turbo head and plenum l got from a scrappy (where else!) and the offset started within reasonable tolerance but ended up at about 5-6mm on the last intake! Given people get Samco pipe kits so their i...

Heavy duty tubing with a coil of wire sewn into the fabric of the tube so that whyen you bend it it doesnt coll...

I still cant understand why these blocks are supposed to be the same....and then they turn out not to be. Logically from a retooling perspective the 2ltr should just be a bore/stroke variant of the 1.7. If the block is indeed internally different barring things like the sump, why the hell wasn't it ...
