Re: 480 and the ULEZ
I have emissions information about the 1995 model year, models GT 2.0, GT 2.0 Automatic and GT Turbo. Thank you Robert - it's really useful (but disappointing). I guess it's case closed, as the B18 isn't going to be 5 times lower than the B20 My Dutch isn't great (I speak German, so technical stuff...

Re: 480 and the ULEZ
As one of the participants in the - all too technical – discussions on the Facebook page, I regret that there’s probably not much chance of finding out from those avenues.
Thank you for pursuing Volvo in Sweden.
Hopefully NedCar will turn up something useful.

Re: 480 and the ULEZ
Could be that they are sending letters to everybody, given that the ULEZ will extend all the way to the South Curcular.

Re: 480 and the ULEZ
Glad someone's raised this. I'd intended to for a while but hadn't got round to it... A friend of mine who runs a garage in Tottenham (Terry's Ltd - surely one of the best garages in the capital if anyone needs one, check out the reviews ;) also has an old Volvo (a limited edition V40 i think) and ...

Re: How to fix the speedometer cable connector
Great tip. Thank you!
Are we talking about resistance to earth (i.e. between the connector and battery negative)?
If so, mine is ~430k Strangely, the speedo was more or less behaving itself today

Re: Starter Motor Replacement - how complex?
If you haven't fixed it yet, it may just be a dodgy connection or wire. (Apologies it I've missed a post, I only skimmed the thread). I used to have an intermittent dead starter issue with my 92 Two Tone, which could be solved by wiggling and pushing the fat red battery positive wire, although I fir...

FOR SALE: Full Paris Leather Interior
Sheba, my Paris Edition (and first ever 480), went to the Volvo dealership in the sky a few years ago... but her leather interior lives on. Offering full interior with working heated front seats, rear seat pads, leather door cards and dash inlays, and even the plastic exterior trim clips in Paris Bl...

Re: rear brakes
Tonee made it though the MOT with a bit of a helping hand from my local ATS (who are a brilliant bunch, like a local garage). :hopping: I had to sand the pads down as they were really glazed and remove some rust from the edges of the disks (yeah - I need new ones), and I cleaned the caliper guide pi...

Re: rear brakes
Thanks Jim, I think you may be right, but it'd be on both sides. Chatted with the mechanic who checked the brakes and changed the fluid when I picked up the car today. (Fluid change is an easy job, I know, but £40 for a professional look and all the fluid is worth it compared to buying the fluid mys...

Re: rear brakes
I know this thread is 5 or 6 years old, but did changing the disks and pads get her though the MOT? I have the same problem right now: Handbrake is fine, rear service brakes are 19% below required efficiency. Changing fluid and bleeding through has helped a bit but not enough. Pads are just 2 years ...

Re: gas struts for rear hatch
Thanks. There are actually some good deals in the uk right now. I have seen new struts at £23 per pair including postage (don't have the details with me but will look them up if anybody wants). But Peugeot ones come in even cheaper.

Re: gas struts for rear hatch
Yes i do have them on my turbo and they fit wonderfully considering they're off a completely different car! They hold it up better than the volvo one's anyway. They came off a circa 1998 hatchback peugeot 206. Ade, if you're still following this thread... Great tip, but how are they working out for...

Hi Captain. Glad you like the FB pic. From your signature, it looks like Lula is still going strong - good on ya! :D Thanks for the advice on posting pics here. I must confess I sort of remember the theory but after several years of the convenience of FaceBlog I realise how lazy I've become when it ...

Return of the Mac
Hello and greetz! Macaroon is back. I've been a long time away... looks like I last posted here about 5 years ago. But it's good to see some familiar names, so Greetz to the Lazerowls, Dragon, Rachel, Joolz, Jim, VBB and anybody else I haven't spotted yet who was at the meets in Lincoln (2006), Ruab...

I hope Clarkson repeated the story about how the car supposedly got it's name... ...That the Mitsubishi marketing guys asked around for a really muscular English word, suitable for their magnificent new rear-wheel drive beast... ...something that would evoke the same mystique as, say, the Mustang .....

I'm pretty sure the foil is required by electrical interference regulations and could be replaced with extra thick alu foil from the supermarket. I'd never thought of earthing the static build up in the bonnet plastic but it makes sense. You may want to think hard about your choice of adhesive tho. ...

I'm pretty sure the white one didn't have black bumpers - though I do recall thinking after we'd passed that the was something a bit odd about it: it looked a bit dirty or rusty or something. So, maybe. It was raining. As for the green one - that's the right colour but I couldn't say whether it was ...
