Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

Congrats on the MOT - I am pleased for you that at least this car isn't all problems! I assume from the discussions about under-bonnet templates you are coming to the Lincolnshire meet; I look forward to seeing you and the car again! following up on your thread the other day, did you want me to bri...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

not convinced the sound proofing is an issue, the other cars i have had are either naked GRP or sandwiched GRP water is getting in from other areas? I think it gets in via the vents on bonnet, trickles down the inside of the bonnet then sits there and condensates further eventually dripping on all ...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

Great news on the MoT - I'll bring my templates along to the meet for the two side panels so you can copy them. I thoroughly recommend you leave the service til April - I've always taken the view that it's better to have an older car looked at twice a year than once so ours all have service and MoT...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

So, this time it was the rotor arm. He’s fitted what I had, plus dis cap and spark plugs. He didn’t fit the leads I bought as they wouldn’t sit correctly and weren’t very good but the originals are fine. So that’s good news! He was thinking the same, I need to get the bonnet sound proofing and insul...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

Just thinking.... When I bought the car there was no padded insulation under the bonnet with the cut outs etc.... think this could be an issue? I’ve added thin soundproofing (still some to be done!) but put off the thicker one until I had a better idea of thickness and weather or not get cut outs so...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

As for keeping rubbish out of the engine bay while driving, there should be an under tray and also side covers for the engine bay. The under tray is pretty obvious as to whether it is missing or not.  I don't think these will have cause the engine to get covered in water (more likely the missing se...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

Under the bonnet, are your drain pipes near the front bulkhead clear?‎ There should be one each side near the triangular apertures for the fan and fuse/relay box (between the windscreen wipers). Very easy to remove and clean and prevent the fuse/relay box getting full of water which might have disa...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

Locking wheel nuts - take a picture of the sort you have. Shall bring dougie along (the battery impact wrench - named because when you use it, it goes “dougie dougie dougie!!”). Most keys have a specific key, but depending on type, there are “other” ways to remove.... Thank you! As soon as I get it...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto - Fox

So..... He's immobile AGAIN. Seems electrical...again. Not the same thing though. Totally soaking under bonnet from rain. (garage due next spring...can't come soon enough!) Everytime he has to go out on an essential trip, it's raining! So, back to the auto electrician this week...which involves a ni...

Wanted - Jack/Brace Kit

Hi Does anyone have a spare original kit they want to sell? I just checked mine today and it's solid, immovable rust! It must have come from another car at sometime maybe as there never looks to have been any pools in that area. Or perhaps left out of the car....who knows. Anyway, can Paypal. Thanks...

Re: Complete known manufacturer wheel list?

I had a good Google as I'm sure many have! Although I found a good list on the Volvo Owners site, there was nothing similar and mostly more modern but I did manage to find a still image of said wheels (rather than one in motion) if this helps.

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto - Fox

He is back and all is well! At least for now. Such hard work trying to take him for things when he needs to be left. There is no public transport and I only know 2 people in the universe... who don't live near me and are always ultra busy so getting to and from a garage always necessitates a master ...

Re: 480 on eBay

I love mine and I don’t care who knows it! 😆 First auto I’ve ever driven or owned. I love the smooth roll and rest from gear changing around all the little roads. I am partial to a bit of nanna driving though. 👵🏼 Agree with James, you just get used to it on longer journeys/faster roads. Also; spare ...

Re: Guinness world record attempt......

Yes, another chance! I was in the old V40 last time. This time we can overheat nicely in the 480. :hopping: I'm guessing lessons were learned and hopefully there will be a lot more awareness and organisation next year .....and fewer lane changing k@#bs! Seemed so many people made such an effort and ...

:hopping: Yay.

I'll meet you all from Tattersall for the rest of the day and meal.

Any weekend is good for me. Dependant on which weekend it falls on, I'll bring Fox too if he's home. I'm sure he'll love it! :P
