Just to advise that lots of roads around south side of Aberdeen and those leading to COVE have been re-worked due to the new by-pass so best if you 'update' the SATNAV where appropriate
o typical, just printed off all the route sheets !!
Thanks for info, glad we didn't find out when we all got lost.

Just making my plans for getting up. It's a long way!
For the start, I understand we are meeting at The Kelpies. I'm just looking in to hotels now. Anyone got recommendations?

I wont make it in my 480 but will come along on my s60.
If anyone asked me for parts can you remind me what you need, I wont manage everything but will try to bring what I have at home.

Yes please Arthuy!
The tray that the heater matrix sits in please,
One of the black plastic stops from inside the fuel door
One interior vent: the one that is blowing in the driver's face and lowest down (if all the fins are connected together and moving together)
I passed a 480 on the way up. Didn't recognise the driver but hope it someone on the way to the meet. Maroon (likely Celeb then) with one orange indicator and one white indicator. Nearly ran her off the road driving beside and waving like a loon!

Well, that went well. I didn't even make the start. Brand new water pump has failed!

Sorry to miss you guys. The car was driving beautifully until it told me it was too hot!

James
a real shame after all the graft you have put in., especially with a NEW pump . .. . . .
on the up-side it means that my paint work will not have a shiney red one to be compared with
actually just washed it, should have left the dust on it so wouldn't look so 'flat'

So that's two meets in a row with a critical problem - has it occurred to you that it was left in a garage for 20 years for a reason?
Seriously though, absolutely gutted to hear that you didn't make it, particularly considering the mileage involved. A real shame to make it so close only to have something like that happen. Hopefully see you at the Hampshire meet next month with another new water pump!

So sorry you were so close yet so far James; it's been a good day for those of us who made it.
Was looking forward to catching up and seeing the car; I hope you and car got home ok and hope to see you in October!
All the best with getting it sorted!

Further to the above it's been a great day here in Scotland - only a handful of us on the drive but new people met in person (Fraser aka cranna21 and Alan 480).
Thanks as always to Sylvia for all her hard work - a shame her 480 decided to kill its turbo but at least it has kept going!

Blimey! Sounds like scotland is cursed!
James - Is it deffo water pump? If so, what brand was it so I know which to avoid!
And am I the only one worried that Sylvia will end up getting some sort of hybrid turbo, forcing the rest of us Turbo peeps to upgrade to keep up with her?!

I checked my receipts and it was a VALEO 506019. I thought Valeo would have been a good bet.

Unfortunately, water pump is fine. It is two of the core plugs that have gone! Won't hijack this thread any more and will continue my troubles on the member's cars section.
Engine out me thinks to access all of these. Engine out the top or bottom?
