Parts catalogue in pdf format should you with to browse this way as opposed to the website. Website allows you to put VIN in to narrow down parts to just your 480 where applicable.

Some of their prices just leave me in hysterics...

Track rod end:
Skandix price: é9.50 - Just picked a pair from eBay (brand new) .99p each

Steering rack gaiters:
Skandix price: é14.90 (each!) - Again, just picked a pair from eBay (brand new) .99p

Front wheel bearing:
Skandix price: é16.90 (each) - Want to guess how much a pair from eBay cost me? - Yup .99p each!

Bleed Nipple:
Skandix price: é10.83 - Stainless Steel ones (unlike Skandix) from eBay - £2.49

The only useful thing I've found so far, is having the partnumbers easily to hand to cross reference!

Those cheap track rod ends, bearings, etcetera, they are usually Chinese rubbish. They might be just 99p each, but almost every MOT they will fail, so unless you can change them yourself, I would recommend something of higher quality. Though I suspect that Skandix' source of components (Scantech and Proparts of Sweden) have their stuff manufactured in China as well.

But yes, I visit Skandix' website on a regular basis just for the part number reference

Oh, talking about inflated prices, Skandix charges € 12,50 for the little plastic piece that connects the headlight adjuster with the headlight frame, Volvo p/n 3412071. These little buggers always break, as the plastic deteriorates through the years. And the original Volvo stock has almost depleted, so the price has been quadrupled.
But there is an alternative. BMW also used Hella headlights and almost the same headlight adjusters in the 1980s and 1990s and lo behold, the plastic piece fits! BMW p/n 63121369833
Only 1,04 a piece, incl VAT ex P&P here: http://www.schmiedmann.co.uk/en/product ... 3121369833
Robert.

Well that's annoying! I have just bought one of those clips and it is being delivered along with handbrake cables!

Ah, the parts I got from eBay aren't the CCR sort (Cheap Chinese Rubbish) - its new old stock being sold off to clear inventory.

Nice find on the headlamp plastic, will probably grab a handfull of those! - I'm hunting for door trim clips (3120183) and have a couple of bags of possible alternatives coming to test.

New old stock on eBay is an absolute godsend sometimes!

I'm on my way to Lake's Volvo again and you've jogged my mind that I need a few of those lower door clips. I'll get a few extra if you need some!

P.S. You'll need 6 of those headlight adjusting clips for a full set (3 per lamp).

Bummer, I could have thrown a handful into the envelope with the temperature sensors I've sent you...

As for the 3120183 clips, I got them from a Volvo dealer last year, but more important, I do also have a solution for the plugs popping out of the door panels: a piece of sheet metal that sticks onto the panel.

I do keep meaning to go to lakes - Its only 30 mins from me. I'll see how the replacement ones I've ordered work out because at £2 a bag, it's hardly going to break the bank. I am slowly building up a wanted list of parts though (and I'm going to hazard a guess that most will end up being un-obtainium!)

If you could do a rough stock check of whats left over there though, that'd be good.(i know from your last visit there was not much)

I got five of those door clips from a few cars. If you want them, great, if not no worries.

Basically it's only five 480's in the middle of a destruction derby and they are all pretty trashed. There is one turbo model but without engine. It may be useful for turbo specific bits though if you need them. It's piled on another car high but you could probably climb to get to it.

Perseverance pays off though: I got two long-range lamp lenses (one fell off yesterday!)‎, centre storage box check strap, a few trim clips and a cable for my ancient radio liberated from a 760. All for £10 and 45 minutes of rummaging and climbing which I quite enjoyed.

If you fancy popping down with your 480 one day to Cambridge was can take a look together at it; I also have the green books which probably cover your turbo car. You strike me as a competent mechanic‎ but I can help with 480 specific stuff if you like.

Thanks Robert! I've ordered the BMW equivalents of the headlight clips.

By the way, I put the intake temperature sensor in that you sent me and the car runs much much better now. The missing around 2k RPM is gone, just a little jerky still around town at low revs. That too is masively improved! Thank you, the old B18E in its 30th year and I are very grateful

Just bit the bullet and bought a pair of pop-up hydraulic struts from Scandex, equates to £50! I guess you guys will now pointy me to some cheaper alternatives...
