Some bits & pieces free to a good home

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Some bits & pieces free to a good home

Post by jamesy12345 » Fri Dec 07, 2012 12:17 pm

Wotcha,

I was donated a few 480 parts from my local garage...if anyone wants them just give me a shout. Free to take away or I can post if you cover the cost...

Drivers side rear light cluster, not mint, seals are perished and small crack on RH side...

No worries Steve!

If only I looked like the young lady selling the voice recognition 480, then I would have no probs. As it is I am merely 'ruggedly handsome' so at some point my house will resemble Glasgowjim's garage......such is life :cryhard:

disclaimer: beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so what can be described as 'ruggedly handsome' by one person may equally be described as 'head like a chewed toffee' by another. Your home is at risk if you do not keep up mortgage payments on it.

Ah, I see now!!

In the words of the great Keith Lemon:... "I'd smash her back doors in!!"

Wouldn't mind a voice activated trip computer though, so when it decides it's having an "off" day, I can ask it how much bloody petrol I have left!! ;)

Lol :D

Oh, and I've never met Jim, but what are you trying to say he looks like??!!

I always imagined him looking like a cross between George Clooney and a pirate!! ;)

About working about how much petrol is left....I just use the time honoured method of filling it to the brim, driving no more than 250 miles, then filling it up again. Easy until the bairn presses the trip meter on the speedo :badmood:

Lol, yeah James, definitely got out of that one!!

Well, I've never got enough money to brim iton account of running a 960 d24 (have you seen the price of diesel lately?! Good job it runs on veg oil then, lol) and an s80 t6!!

It's no wonder i'm poor!! :(

I use the time honoured "don't you bloody dare drive any further than 80 miles on £20" technique!! ;)

TThanks James :)

The 960 is my work bus, started life as a 2.5 24v, which was ok to a point, just a bit boring.

So I bought the s80 with the idea of dropping the engine in the 960, but it was far too good to break, plus it really is a nice place to be, with more toys than toys 'r' us, in fact it's called Kitt after a certain Trans-am, usually driven by a leather clad, mullet sporting tw@t!!

So... What to do with the 960?? Well, I already had a 940td, which was my work bus at the time, but was in very poor shape and would never pass another mot, not even a special one.

Volvo never sold a diesel 960 in this country, so "Aha!" Out came the spanners and engine crane... D24'd 960! ;)

Wasn't quite that easy though, not helped by a bunch of thieving pikeys robbing most of my parts half way through! :(

Does make a lovely noise now though, GRRRRRR..... TSSSHHHHH........ GRRRRRRRRR........ TSSSHHHHHH!!!! .... Well worth it! ;)

So, the d24 has the fuel pump turned up, runs on a mixture of veg oil, paraffin and diesel and pulls quite frankly ridiculous amounts of weight, without complaint, while the t6 is baiting me for a remap... Mmmm... 320bhp... (dribbles uncontrollably!!)

As for the 480, that just puts a smile on my face whenever I drive it :D

Oh, then there's the 2.8i Capri that ran out of time and money about 6-7 years ago!...

Enough on my plate??? Nah, never!! ;)

"like a kid in a sweetie" shop  there are too many good cars about for not much money in the UK

My 'R' has been remapped but not impressed....supposedly 330 bhp, its quick enough (quarter mile less than 16 seconds even with limping oxy sensor) but I think the tuning company just whacked up the boost on this one and u don't really see a big effect thru the revs. Plus it's a 4x4. Unless my boost solenoid is knackered also....just trying to say choose carefully for maps!!

Does Robou's fine work extend to other cars like V70R's and T6's?? Does a V70R or T6 engine fit in a 480?? This stuff can keep u awake at night

I'd love to do some kind of engine swap but fairly limited both by competence and equipment

..er...bump!! :bla:

Lol! :D

Well, my engine changing facilities extended to; on the road, outside my dad's house/the chuch next door!!

I've had a few crazy ideas about the 480... So far I'm thinking a slightly fettled T4 lump to about 250bhp, an M90, rear axle from a 940 and REAR WHEEL DRIVE!!!!

The way they should have been IMO!!

As for tuning the R and T6, I've been looking at RICA, just need to find an agent.

Results look good, even looking at a remap for the Father-in-law's 2.0t C70, takes power from 163bhp standard to a reported 210bhp... Too good to be true??

Hmmm!!!!

Steve :hopping:
