Availability of New Parts

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

That's right Jim, I removed them and sold them as I want to fit new ones or at least very good restored ones. The car has been off the road since June 2011 now and when I sell my MK3 Golf daily shortly I intend to drag the 480 out from the garage!

Well that doesn't sound too promising then :(

I have indeed sent them an email, I can't imagine they sell them.

I'll ring my local dealer, you never know, they might have some 'on a shelf' outback.

Happens a lot, very dissapointing after one has searched for days and days...
I wouldn't count on finding something in the USA, the only 480's that went there were imported personally by fanatics.

It's the same with the Koni shocks. The red (front & rear) "Koni Special" and yellow (front) " Koni Sports" are not available anymore, even though some Dutch, French, German and British Ebay-stores suggest otherwise.

At the Skandix stand at the " Volvo Klassieker beurs " this weekend there was some good news for the 480 lovers.

Skandix is working on the reproduction of rear lights, DRl´s ( the white version ) and the metal bumper parts for the front and rear. The new wheel arches are mentioned before. At the moment they are talking to Volvo HQ and Hella.

But, i don´t think these parts will be cheap......

I was stuck for the clutch cable to pedal connecting bolt a month ago, and after ringing around the entire UK, and I mean the entire UK, Greers of Antrim (Northern Ireland) were the only place that had them listed on the dealers computers. I phoned them up, and two weeks prior to the phone call they threw all their parts for the 400 series in the scrap bin, including 4 of these bolts! I told them I would have had the lot! You would have thought they would have made attempts to let us know! I managed to get a friend to turn a new one for me on the lathe, and came out a lot better than the original; i'm going to be thinking outside the box more often.

My advice is, if you get close to a scrap metal dealers in Northern Ireland, and you have a big magnet, or a keen eye ...

Volvo dont produce lists of parts prior to being discontinued. So no luck there !
Thats why this thread exists as we find out which parts are discontinued.

Yesterday I visited EstateServices.nl for a rear window gas strut. They have several parts even headlamp hinges. I have informed if they ship abroad. This was confirmed. They ship with GLS. People can send an email prior to buying a part to make an inquiry about the shipping costs. If language is an issue I'm sure any dutch member will want to help looking for a part in the webshop.

In the uk rear gas struts are readily available at low cost. See some of cerebus threads he posted this info so many times that he should have been on a commission. :D

As mentioned in this post...

http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/v ... 24&t=19542

...the crankcase breather valve does not seem to be available (UK). But it's not all bad cos forum member bkf_uk came up with a rather ingenious fix for this :hopping:

I like this Blue Peter stuff and have some planned on my V70...a boost solenoid from some huge GM truck or other.... :boom:

I didn't say there are no gas struts in the UK.
For those no matter where in the world who are seeking parts I wanted to mention this shop, they might find what they need.

As ever I'm looking for parts myself such as good quality window guide rubbers (the ones on the door tops that corrode on the inside) however I have a friend who buys up stock from older dealers that have gone to the wall and he is always asking if I need volvo parts.
Just bought front and rear disks plus pads and a cam belt for a little over £20 the lot.
Ok there's postage if you're not local but combined is a lot cheaper.
If you are on ebay and the seller is jolly_good_car_spares_uk then that's Geoff and he's a really nice guy too.

So if you have the door top rubber plasticky thingies and a drivers door pocket pm me with a price please.
p.s
Geoff has so much stuff he's still sorting especially brake hoses clutch kits and cables galore
