York Raceway

Post by jamesy12345 » Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:32 am

Hello all...is there any interest for meeting up at York Raceway in the summer, maybe even to try some runs..?? This is in England in the UK btw

http://www.yorkraceway.org.uk/RWYB.html

Looking at last years time table the first events are in April/May. I'm hoping to get down there anyway but in the link above they host club meetings, will give them a ring to find out prices, etc.

Looking at the different classes available it seems there would be some pretty stiff competition, probably due to Volvo not thinking about motorsport when choosing engine sizes!!

Non-turbo 1.7 & 2.0 = class C...e.g. 2 litre Vauxhalls & Fords
Turbo 1.7 = class T....lots of 2 litre and above turbos in this class f(O.o)f the 1721 cc engine would probably be the smallest in the class as the limit is 1700 cc and above!! Never mind, being the underdog is a good thing....pray for rain maybe, and anyway there is a trophy for 'best time in club'

There also a 'BRC' class for cars under 1000 quid....sounds promising until you read the rules - if someone asks you need to sell your car!! No chance....

Anyway, if anyone is interested give me a shout, we can work some dates out or otherwise I will post updates regardless :D

Okey dokey that makes enough for a drag race then - 2!

Just phoned a very nice lady called Yvonne on 01422 843651, they are going to email me some details. Looking at the site last year it was 30 quid for a days racing and/or £12.50 admission. Sounds like they start around Easter...

A little more info...prices were as above, camping is a fiver a night, I wasn't planning on this but could be up for it. Looking at my working pattern probably I would be planning for either the 6th or 27th of May cos I'm working Easter :cryhard: . Dates to be confirmed, as noted by Chris (the Man who emailed me)...

Club Day Events At York Raceway
We can certainly help out with a club day event. Our facilities are:-
Dedicated area for your group to camp and pit your vehicles.
Dedicated holding area prior to participants entering track.

Public address publicity for Club.
No extra charge on standard admission charges for this service.
One Organiser per every 10 Club members pre entered are admitted free.
Hope this information has been helpful. Please contact me directly if you
require further information.

At least you've GOT a turbo!!

Where as me, I'm not fit to drive - not on a road, not on a race track!!

Wouldn't mind a go of Kidman though! ;)

Lol, yeah right!!

I'm not made of money... Averages 18mpg just pootling around, i'd be surprised to see 4 on the track!

Yeah, she does need to eat a couple of cakes, I like boobs!!

Would purely be for down-the-pub conversation... "so, you'll never guess who I had a go of the other day?!"

Lol!!

A couple of them would probably believe me too, I once that I went out with Billie Piper for 6 months after we met when I was on holiday in Cornwall!!

My nickname's Mojo for a reason... Maybe!!

Booooo! My working schedule STILL not sorted yet... :cryhard: . It's all a bit hard cos I'm leaving and need a replacement for me - can't escape until he* is in the seat (a cardboard cut-out should do the trick). Not sure if I will make either of dates in May...will get there eventually and post up. At least one car is ready to roll!

*maybe she. Unlikely

....Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about ("I didn't!") And gallantly he chickened out. Bravely taking ("I never did!") to his feet, He beat a very brave retreat.("all lies!") Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin....

Right, I emailed Chris at York Raceway, and he said he just needs to know numbers a few of weeks before the 26th so can allocate a pitting area.

Prices are as follows, all in pounds sorry no pounds sterling symbol on my keyboard....at least not that I can find...

Admission:

Adult: 12.50 (one day) 20 (two days)
Teen 13 yrs to 16 yrs: 7.50 (one day) 10 (two days)
Accompanied child 12 & under: free

Camping...opens at 6 pm:

Adult: 5 (one night) 10 (two nights)
Teens & children: free

RWYB track fees:

One day of runs is 30, two days is 50

So, a days racing for one person would be 42.50, or 80 quid for two days with camping. I asked Chris how many runs you would get per day and he thought at least 15 if you got up early and stayed late. According to the website there is a rough surface on the 'launch area' so no need to worry about rain!

They also have fees for trade pitches if anyone is interested....car boot sale maybe?? lol
