Devizes Uk Meeting Aftermath
Had a very impressive fun/sleep ratio, and look forward to seeing all the photos and videos that was taken.
Big thanks to Chris, for his awesome hospitality!!
Those of you who didn't make it, i pity your dull monotonous lives!!
I take the lack of posts as a direct result of how knackered/partied out/hung over evrybody is, which is usually a good sign!!
Well now to piece back togther my exam revision...
Did you have fun or what?!

Hi All,
Thanks for making this years meet something special. Claire and I had a great time and once again you proved that where 480 goes so does a great mix of excellent people.
We did very little on Sunday once everyone left and have spent most of today sat by the Jacuzzi chilling out.
Once everyone has sent in piccys and movies we will create another CD movie to be shipped out to everyone that attended.
Best Regards
Chris (& Claire)

Hi Dave,
Enjoy your wine and I know you will!
Here is a wine tasting guide I wrote for an American who wanted to woo his girlfriend (it worked)
WINE TASTING
A. The Look
i. Swirl the wine around the glass and keep an eye on how well it sticks to the side of the bulb. In general a good quality wine will stick to the side like syrup. Naturally, bits in the bottom are not good unless you are drinking a good port and did not decant it before you poured it. (Still not good but at least you know where it has come from)
B. The Sniff
i. Pass the wineglass quickly past the nose. The purpose of this is to clear the nose in preparation for the proper sniff.
ii. Bury your nose deep in the glass inhaling virtually only the wine smell. This is the point where you can start talking about cherries, peaches, sweaty feet, whatever you can smell in the wine.
C. The Taste
i. Take a small swig of the wine, swill it around the mouth and swallow. Do not attempt to taste. The purpose of this is to clean the mouth and prepare it for the real tasting.
ii. Take a swig of wine and again swill it around the mouth, swallow then wait. If a good wine you will then be hit by a wave that in wine circles is known as The Event or The Happening or other similar names. This is more of a feeling than a taste and takes a second or two to happen. Do not try and rush it. If there is no wave, try again. If still no wave then either you are already inebriated or the wine is not all that good.
D. When handling white wine remember to hold the stem not the bulb of the glass. White wine should always be served cool. The best temperature is from a cellar or a cold garage. Second best and what most people do is from the fridge.
E. When handling red wine hold the bulb and keep it warm. Red wine should be served at room temperature which can be enhanced (but do not say I said so) by placing near the cooker or near a radiator.
F. Finally, remember not to be a wine snob. Do not go through the whole rigmarole with any wine or in the wrong company, it will make you look a fool/prat. Also this is just one method of tasting wine but recognised by a large portion of wine circles as being successful.
Happy wine tasting!
Regards

Fantastic meet, even whilst ill... funny how the 1/2 litre of Pernod didn't help the throat...
