Post your 480s' pics!

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Is there an easy way to get rid of the 'orange-peel' look in paint, or is it the way it came from factory? I never know if it's meant to be like that. Also all those horrible swirl marks - other than machine polishing, can they be removed? Is there a special wax or polish? That's looking very, very shiny by the way. As do the others earlier on! Nice to see cars being looked after.

Those swirl marks are surely due to not hosing the car off properly before washing?

swirls have to be machined off, you can get polish with fillers to mask them but the only way to really sort them is machine.
i think there is nothing you can do about orange peel :( since it is a defect in the paint underneath the lacquer no you will never get rid of it unless you machine polish all the lacquer and half the paint off! or get the area resprayed.

I was gunna ask if anyone had actually bothered to re-spray their 480, then remembered Goldilocks

@Dan Yes you can remove orange peel matey!

I removed quite a lot on my Paris last year.

You need some 240 grit wet and dry.Rub sparingly, ooer,so that you take off a little at a time.Wipe the area with a rag and keep checking your work.

Then, use an orbital and some T-cut or non-coarse Farecla G-whatever compound to buff.

The results were excellent!

That depends if the orange peel is below the laquer or not. It can probably be improved by cutting back the laquer though.

It probably has had bits re-sprayed.

I had to return mine to volvo garages a few times as their spray job wasn't good enough. Still isn't perfect.

I think the Volvo 480 range doesn´t have a bad color. Dark Green is classic, white looks very sporty :D [/img]

Here is my newest purchase; 480 turbo -92
I love the colour "Lavender Metallic"
Is it the same as on Murf's turbo and Clubman_Dan's?
