I have noticed that in my 88 ES the steering is quite heavier than in a 1995 2.0 litre. What is the cause of this ???
I like the old way more than the new.
Can it be a stronger pump ???

I find the same thing with my '89 1.7, and '93 2.0.
Something that I was told that changed for the 2-litre, was that the pipes for the power steering were made bigger (width?). This is why the 2-litres don't whine when they're on full-lock and the 1.7's do. It could (but I'm only guessing here) also be the reason that the steering is lighter - more hydraulic fluid, able to move quicker through the pipes?
Ben.
