I'd like to properly flash my pop ups.

As in pull the stalk to flash someone out / in / you fuckwit, etc.

Think someone brought this up a long time ago, but maybe now someone has the expertise to work it out, as opposed to just guess, blow some fuses and set the car on fire, which is probably the method i shall be employing!

Most of the non-flashing issues seem to be caused by a fault in the stalk itself, so get yerself a good replacement and you should be flashing away in no time :)

my mates celica used to pop up the lights and flash the main beam. Bit flash :D (excuse the pun) but probably ruin the motors after time.

No, my flash the drive lights function works fine, its all exactly as it is supposed to be.

I want, when the pop ups are down, to be able to pull and hold the stalk, and the pop ups come up, then let it go and they go down again, like red480gt's mates celica.

As in modify some wiring somewhere to do this.

should be pretty simple, i will have a look at the wiring diagrams tomorrow. i reckon a "sleepy eyes" headlight kit would be pretty cool as well. do a search on ebay for them.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW

says they are made to order so i reckon they could make/modify a kit for 480s :D

The "sleepy eye" thing just makes the car look like it's got an electrical fault to me ;) Popups are either up or down, anything in between just looks broken! hehe!

Like the popupflashingi idea though :)

been perusing the wiring diagrams...
Haven't tried it, and i'm probably wrong, but:
http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Chris%20Drive ... lasher.jpg

red line is a wire to add in. theoretically this should fire the pop ups.

probably needs to be done via a relay so something doesn't melt.

What do you think?

Had a bit of a mess about, I can get the popups to pop by wiring two relays into the light switch, and connected to the flasher stalk. Trouble is that you have to hold the stalk, othrwise the lights pop, but don't light up. If I hold the stalk they light up and go down once i let go. Needs a 3 sec timer or so, so they pop up flash, then pop down again.

I poped them about 50 times and now the nearside one won't go up, the gears have snapped off, since you can pull it up, a bit and it goes. The motor spins but nothing happens.

Thanks for the offer.... Groom want's to swap a load of bits for an ECU mod, so I may get one from him :)

I have been to shipham, and now have my injectors in a nice shade of pastel green (372cc @4 bar). Plus an orange ECU (might come in handy?). They also have a load of spare turbos... None of them will fi the 480 easily though :(

back to "flash" topic,

people at the factory used to play with em. as you turn the round popup switch like mad up and down the popups go up and down separately, meaning sometimes after one another... in some ocasions one stays up and the other down.

eh. bit sarcastic if you love the car.. but for some fools maybe use full to atract attention.
;)
luck,
JPF

No they are not garret turbos so no parts are interchangable.

I duno what make, but they have a dump valve built into the compressor housing. They have 4 dead ones so that not a good advert either.

Something else that I'm sure you've already considered, but I thought I should point it out/ask about it anyway....

What will happen if the pop-ups are up, and you flash your lights? When I briefely tinkered with the pop-up system, and came across the connections that need to be made to "wink" each light individually, I'm fairly certain that it would wink, regardless of the position - i.e. if it was up originally, the light would go down and then back up again... and if it was down, it would raise it, then lower it again.

If you are using the same connections I found (can't remember which ones they were now), you may get some interesting results if you flash your headlights when the headlights are on!

.... of course, you may not be using the connections I found, but I thought it worth pointing out, anyway! :D

I was using the wires on the back of the lighting switch connector. If I flash them with the lights up then the relays close the already closed circuit, and the high beam flashes, but the headlamps stay up.

You need two relays as the headlamps are on two seperate circuits, one for each lamp.

Doing anything else seems to do as you found, putting the lamps down then back up. It's ok I guess, but not so good if it's dark and the lights go out for a while.
