Hello,
I seem to remember someone making new headlight brackets out of aluminium, or something similar.
The ones with 2 holes to mount to the backplate and which pivot the head lights.
Can anyone advise where I can get some please. I broke one of mine replacing a gas strut. My own daft fault.
I've fashioned together a temp bracket but although it works, looks a bit Sh*t.
Thanks.

Re: Headlight brackets
I'm not sure aluminium is a good idea - I suspect Volvo intended them as a sacrificial part to protect the pop up motors in the event of a gas strut jamming. As the motors are now hens teeth, I'd stick to plastic.

Re: Headlight brackets
Your probably right.
Managed to find some plastic ones now, Dave Walker to the rescue again.

Re: Headlight brackets
It is correct that Volvo intended them as a sacrificial part, but it was a safety design in the event of collision with pedestrians.
So probably not a good idea to use aluminium.

Re: Headlight brackets
Absolutely right.
They're a pain when they break but just think of the damage a pop-up light could do to a person if it didn't fall back into the hole it lives it when under pressure...
Protection of the motor would be a useful additional consequence, but primarily it's good old Volvo safety design yet again.

Re: Headlight brackets
Its the same reason that sunroof pins are made from plastic, or the window mech is plastic. If anything were to become trapped, the plastic will break, rather than the trapped object being severed....
