Discotheque on the dashboard

Post by bigdickbuster » Mon Jan 03, 2011 9:51 pm

Hello :)

As the title says. We (me and my three friends) have similar problem in our 480.

Two people had changed alternator. I didn't ;) Alternator is brand new. After this operation dashboard looks like on the photo:

(this is photo from one car-only in this car display shows STOP, so this is not important)

Screenwasher, battery and brakes bulb constantly lighting.

When I disconnected from the alternator wire which is responsive for the start of the charging, discotheque goes off.

What should we check?

First check your calculator. Me and three friends makes four. Now who's having the problem?
Seriously: Check the connection with the battery and if it really is charged at the right voltage. Did anyone play around with the earth-cables connected near the alternator? They are vital for the electronics.

Haha :D

We (four persons) have problem with officious bulbs

Two persons changed alternator, two didn't. I didn't played with the alternator, but two months ago my car was in workshop and dude replaced voltage regulator.

Charging is OK - about 13.5-14V in my car.

-In first car bulbs start lighting immediately after the exchange.
-In second car everything was OK at one day.
-In third car state lasts for two years ;)
-In fourth car (my Turbo) I noticed that the wire which is responsive for the start of the charging was disconnected. I connect this and we know the result ;)

You didn't react on my remark about the grounding cables near the alternator. Electronics have nice ways to fool you.

Mine has always had the handbrake, screenwash and charging light on since I got it, turns out my alternator was dying. I've once had STOP come on, turned the car off and on and the STOP went away! ha
My 480 doesn't break... it just rests
