I had a 1994 L reg, and it had a 1.7l engine.
Had coded mirrors, airbags and clear lenses, so was updated model
I don't think the 2.0l engine was ever in the S, but I could be wrong

As mentioned above, the three letters in the reg signify where the car was registered, much like the two letters they have at the start of the new regs.
